RSC Hosts Member Days July 29-30

In anticipation of a full opening on Aug. 3, the Redmond Senior Center will be hosting “Member Days” on July 29 -30 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.

“We’re inviting the Redmond community to stop by the Center and see our ‘new look,’ learn about the planned programming and sign up for memberships,” said Jill Bower, Operations Manager. “We’ve been working for more than a year on an updated strategic plan outlining more robust services, programming, and new activities. We’re excited to start showing that off.”

RSC’s mission is to offer older adults opportunities to engage in programs and services tailored to local needs and wants; Connect with others, friends and community networks; and Thrive by sharing time and talents while gaining treasures and ties.

“The benefits of a membership are numerous,” Bower said. “Our goal is to provide opportunities to cultivate interests, address needs, and provide avenues for community stewardship. It also is an investment in the Center’s stability.”

Individual annual membership is $50; businesses, groups, and organizations may support the Center with a $200 membership which includes reduced room rental price

Members will also get a preview of the automated check in systems called MySeniorCenter located in the foyer and be issued a key tag. According to Bower, the new system will be convenient, simple, user-friendly, and more efficient for both members and staff.

Here’s how it will work:

  • All visitors and volunteers will receive a small key tag. (The card contains no personal information, but it will allow the new system to recognize you.)
  • Instead of signing into our book, you’ll swipe your key tag at the scanner, or you can enter your name on the touchscreen (see below).
  • Press the touchscreen to select the programs you’ll be participating in that day.
  • Press FINISH.

Members’ attendance and activity will be automatically logged, making staff more available to generate and manage programs and services, said Bower.

“It’s specifically designed to help our staff members manage the various sign-ups and sign-ins and improve how we report our services to our stakeholders, funders, and partners,” said Bower. “Being able to quickly and accurately detail which services we’re providing and to how many members is important to donors, the City of Redmond and Deschutes County, and to other agencies. It will be a tool to increase financial, volunteer and partner support.”

“If you can’t come by the center on July 29-30, don’t worry,” Bower said. “Membership is open year around and staff will be on hand to issue key tags and to help with operating the check in system. “Our goal is to grow membership and make the use of My Senior Center as seamless as possible for everyone.”
